What is Metabolic Typing™?

Metabolic Typing™ (MT) is an exciting new dietary method that anyone can follow, which enables you to customise your diet, meet your body's needs, while at the same time create a healthier lifestyle.

It's a fact, there is no single, universal diet that is right for everyone, just as we all have different finger prints and have various acquired tastes, so too are our diets. This uniqueness means that we process our foods and nutrients differently. One type of food that keeps you slim, healthy and feeling alive can make another person overweight, unhealthy and lethargic. Your metabolism is unique, bearing in mind that your dietary needs were largely determined by your ancestral heritage.

"One Man's food is another man's poison" Lucretius, the Roman Healer/Philosopher succinctly observed some 2000 years ago

Eskimo's currently living in their true habitat eat about 90% fat and protein daily, however natives living in a hot tropical climate along the equator will predominantly eat 65%+ carbohydrates. The other side of the coin to eating the correct proportions of macro nutrients is eating the right foods for your metabolism. As you will no doubt appreciate, from the two examples provided, that neither are likely to eat the same foods, never mind the same proportions of carbohydrates, protein & fat. Research from as long ago as the 1930's (Price & Pottenger) have shown that indigenous populations free from 'white man's food' (fast food restaurants, foods which contain white salt, white sugar, white flour, inorganic and pasteurised dairy) didn't suffer from degenerative diseases, such as cancer, CVD, stroke, high blood pressure, fatigue, arthritis, headaches, flulike symptoms, dizziness, constipation, bladder infections, depression, insomnia and many more.

The choices you have...

In the mid 1980's researchers such as Kelley, Watson and Williams in the US came across 'biochemical individuality'. They found that no two individuals are alike on a biochemical or physiological level.

Their work and that of others was then brought together by Dr William Wolcott ("The Metabolic Typing™ Diet, 2000) and he created methods to evaluate people's metabolic individuality, which is now all firmly grounded in 'hard' science, in disciplines that include biochemistry, physiology, endocrinology and neuroendocrinology.

What is HTMA?

We advise that you have a Hair Tissue & Mineral Analysis (HTMA) before starting your new healthy lifestyle.  HTMA is an analytical test that reflects mineral composition of the hair. HTMA may provide indications of mineral imbalances, deficiencies and excesses of many essential and toxic elements. Your results will tell you about changes in minerals and toxic minerals over a period of 3 months. It is the best indicator for long term uptake of heavy metals and can be used as an indicator of glandular function. It's all about balance and finding out if what you're doing is working for you. HTMA can provide a holistic and comprehensive picture upon which to base the most effective nutritional lifestyle.

What does Hair reflect? Hair is formed in the dermis from a cluster of matrix cells that make up the follicle. During the growth phase, metabolic activity is greatly increased, exposing the hair to the internal metabolic environment. This includes the extracellular fluids circulating blood and lymph. As the hair reaches the surface of the skin, its outer layers harden, locking in metabolic products accumulated during this period of hair formation.

Hair is the second most metabolically active tissue and by the very nature of its formation as a biological sample, may provide a permanent record of metabolic activity occurring within the body during its period of growth. THE FIRST INCH AND ONE-HALF OF HAIR CLOSEST TO THE SCALP CAN GIVE A GOOD INDICATION OF THE NUTRITIONAL AND TOXIC METAL EXPOSURE over the period of 6 to 8 weeks.
